Our latest batch of small, bespoke bottlings available from 13th March 2026.
At Creetown bond, we wanted to pay homage to wonders on our doorstep. We visited local caves at coastal Carsluith, which were once rife with smugglers handling whisky, rum, salt and tobacco. This product is all above board, accounted for and duty paid but we thought it was fun anyway!
Batch release 21 is an 12 year old, specially selected by Martin Armstrong. Originally filled on 01/11/2013 and re-racked into an octave in May 2016 due to the original barrel having leaked. It was then bottled on 10/03/2026.
Colour: very dark reddish brown.
Nose:new handbag leather.
Taste: Very subtle smoke. Absolute cracker of a dram.
The Smuggler's Cut #21: Islay Malt
Type of cask: sherry octave
Volume: 50.9%

Reviews
Picked this up recently from Creetown, as some friends and I were on a boys weekend in the area. Like the last time when I collected, rather than have whisky shipped, we were kindly given a tour of the warehouses. As you can imagine, a number of whiskys were sampled that weekend, and this was the stand-out favourite. Really dark, intense, not too peaty, with a touch of sweetness - delicious. I'm off to buy another bottle.
