Our Story

First established in 2010 by Martin Armstrong, who grew up in the industry, the company was originally a "one-man band". Martin wanted to take whisky casks and make them available to enthusiasts around the world, whether they were whisky clubs, shops, or small groups of friends.

To begin with we purchased casks and left them stored wherever they lay in Scotland but by early 2011 it was clear that customers around the world needed or wanted help to bottle their casks and arrange transport to their homes. A bottling service was born from this need.

In early 2011 we moved into a small rented unit of around 100m2 which had space for 45 casks on one side, 18-24 pallets on another side and a small bottling area at the back. This was approved by HMRC and helped get the business under way.

By 2014 we had been struggling to cope with the limited space and had taken on additional units for storage but fortunately a former steelworks came up for sale. On a 15 acre site, the buildings had around 6500m2 of storage, an office block and two houses attached, which gave us more space than we could have dreamt of filling but no small amount of internal building work required to make the buildings suitable.

In 2023 we made a major upgrade to our bottling halls, with lots of insulation, plastic wall lining and new equipment to make the bottling lines more efficient. We pride ourselves on being incredibly flexible with what we bottle and how quickly we can change our products over.

By late 2022 we knew we were filling up quickly so we put plans in for 2 new warehouses, which began construction in late 2023 and were approved by HMRC in May 2024, when the first casks rolled in.

As of 2025, warehouse 8 is full, warehouse 9 is nearly full and we're still hoping to take a breath and recover. Naturally, that means we've just asked our architect to submit plans for a new visitor centre with offices.  These have recently been approved by Dumfries & Galloway Council and we hope to get building underway in 2026.
