Established in 2010 as a "one-man band" we aim to source and sell casks of whisky to enthusiasts and clubs wishing to purchase larger quantities of whisky at cheaper prices per bottle.
In 2010 we purchased casks and left them all over Scotland, but by early 2011 it became clear that in order to help our customers get their whisky home, we had to start offering a bottling service.
In early 2011 we moved into a small rented unit of around 100m2 which had space for 45 casks on one side, 18-24 pallets on another side and a small bottling area at the back. This was approve by HMRC and helped get the business under way.
By 2014 we had been struggling to cope with the limited space and had taken on additional units for storage but fortunately a former steelworks came up for sale. On a 15 acre site, the buildings had around 6500m2 of storage, and office block and two houses attached, which gave us more space than we could have dreamt of filling but no small amount of internal building work required to make the buildings suitable.
In 2023 we made a major upgrade to our bottling halls, with lots of insulation, plastic wall lining and new equipment to make the bottling lines more efficient. We pride ourselves on being incredibly flexible with what we bottle and how quickly we can change our products over.
In 2024 we now have around 26 employees and a constant balance of around 28,000 casks and very little spare space until our two new warehouses come online around April 2024. They should give between 12,000 and 14,000 extra cask spaces.
Some day soon we'll start to slow down on new warehouses and start to focus on making the premises more visitor friendly. Possibly a new office block incorporating a visitor centre will be on the cards when we get a chance.
Cheers,
